I sent out a plea to butches everywhere asking what they cook, if they cook, and all that. Then I went out in search of butches who cook, all in the name of blog writing. Yeah. Talking to hot butches did not enter into the picture at all. Really.
Anyway, here’s the consensus:
Yes, sugars, butches cook, but they don’t like for you to know about it. They are Stealth Cooks. They don’t generally want to be the one responsible for ensuring that the family eats a reasonably healthy diet. No, they want to do Sunday breakfast and special treats.
I thought I’d share some of the deliciousness that the butches had to share.
First up, there’s Kyle. Kyle is a Baking Butch, who has been known to provide morning sustenance for his lovers. One of his specialties is Sweet Rolls. I haven’t tried these out myself, but don’t they look yummy? Not nearly as yummy as Kyle but still pretty good.
Next, we have Dawn. Her blog is, as she says, “is a mish-mosh of cooking, welding, building, life, etc.” Since someone I dated recently is a huge fan of broccoli soup, I chose the broccoli soup recipe to share with you.
What about you? What’s your specialty? What do you cook that gets rave reviews every time? Send ‘em to me at FemmeFairyGodmother at gmail dot com

Wait wait! How did I miss a call for Butch cooks? Damn! So I’ll respond here.
My girlfriend hates cooking, and has no interest in being the meal-provider, which is fine with me since I love being in the kitchen.
Standards include Garlic-Parmesan chicken breast, brocolli, lemon or parmesan cous-cous, and different variations on tofu. Also been known to do a jerk-chicken/ricearoni thing, and beef pasties (read: meat pies)
Recently, I made coconut green curry tofu that is still being developed as a meal in terms of a flavor profile, but is an exciting start.
In the baking/sweets department, I make my own bagels, have perfected the Best Pancakes of Your Life, dabble in chocolate bread pudding, and have secret family recipies for cinnamon rolls, fudge, and molassas taffy.

I’m probably not the greatest when it comes to meal planning or anything responsible like that, but I love to spend time in the kitchen when I have the time (that seems to be my biggest obstacle when it comes to cooking). I do it because it’s meditative for me, and I also like that my friends and lovers enjoy it as a personal gift to them. I cook, bake (my specialty is yeast rolls from scratch and homemade gingerbread), make candy (peanut brittle, caramels, and toffee) and of course, mix up delicious cocktails.

You know, funnily enough my very butch partner M is the main cook in the household. I, the femme, am the one who loves to bake (oh how predictable, I know!). She is also the drink mixer, the barbecuer and the handyman. Me… I clean, and when the mood strikes I bake.
It works though! Even the cisgendered have been breaking through the confines of “gender roles” and it’s wonderful that the genderqueer community isn’t confining themselves either.

I would have to say that my specialty dish would be garlic-merlot-pepper-mushroom steaks. Made them for a group of our friends and things went over very well. They’ve all requested that I make them again at some point.

Well, I can take an unlikely mixture of refrigerator inhabitants to new heights when they meet each other. What can I say? I think it’s important to show resourcefulness so that the femme in the household knows I can take care of her in a multitude of ways, all the while knowing she is more than capable of taking care of herself. I think it’s important to make her the main dish I cook.
