Great post. I couldn’t agree more and deal with health care providers very much like you. I’m sure did some consciousness-raising in that office!
I’m glad to hear that you are up and around again after your surgery. How were all those movies you watched??

Last time I had surgery the nurse went through this series of questions:

Sexually active? yep
Still menstrating? yep
Any chance you can be pregnant? nope
What birth control do you use? none

Then a look of frustration and she started asking the same list of questions!

Still the same answers and amazingly she started the list of questions again! Alright, it may of been wrong of me not to help her out.

The third time around at the end of the questions, I simply said “I have been in a lesbian relationship for the last 20 years”

And she said, perfectly straightfaced “sorry that answer is not on the form”

And therefore I had to take a pregnancy test.Strange world.

I had a hysterectomy 7 years ago. Best thing that ever happened to me. LOL

I never really thought too much about asking different kinds of questions b/c I’m a lesbian though. That’s food for thought!

Hey, you write grants?? Can you email me? The LGBT community center that I volunteer for needs a grant writer.
