Some of my butch pals on Twitter were talking about working out today. I just started up again because after a 15-year hiatus from running, I gotta do something besides the spotty weight lifting and Pilates trainer workouts. So, lately, I’ve been dancing around my house for an hour and doing Pilates mat stuff. By dancing, I mean, dancing. Like I’m in a club, there’s a hot, hot girl with me and I’m workin’ it. I end up sweaty and needing a shower after an hour. Which makes me wonder how I met girls when I was clubbin’ regularly. I mean, really? That much sweat isn’t that cute. Of course, back then I was probably taking breaks to flirt and drink and … um … well, let’s just say back in the day I was more fond of a particular illegal substance that produces an intense desire to eat delicious combinations of food such as ice cream and Doritos with a side of bleu cheese. Anyway. This new working out business isn’t about being cute (cause I *am*) but being healthy. Natives are more prone to diabetes and there’s the whole Rheumatoid Arthritis thing looming over my head. I am good and sick of sensible shoes! The doctor said that losing weight will be good for my knees, my hips and my ability to wear those shoes. (So maybe it’s a little bit about cute!) I lost about 20 pounds before the hysterectomy and I have only just now been able to start doing anything physical.
Of course, except for the dark chocolate M & Ms that are always in my freezer, I tend to eat pretty well anyway. The recent string of pizza-and-wings nights aside. And the Johnny Walker Black (ghetto, ghetto fabulous!).
So here’s what I do. I walk The Chihuahua at least once a day. That isn’t much of a workout because she’s only 5 pounds – we walk slowly for me (though she trots) and not that far (for me.) I dance around the house to the music at the end of this post. Then I do Pilates mat exercise. I have a Windsor Pilates DVD that I use for that.
I also have another DVD that I had to wait to begin until I got the okay from my doc, so I’m actually waiting until I return from UT. It’s by The Firm and it’s step aerobics with weights and I used to love it way back when. The Firm just released it on DVD so I bought one. I’m prety excited. I have a 17″ step bench that I’ve been hauling around for years that’s from my Firm days. I can’t find my barbell, though, so I’m gonna have to buy a new one unless it’s in The Ex’s barn still.
So what do you do? Do you work out? Or is your workout limited to jumping to conclusions?

I despise exercise so effin’ much. LOL
BUT – despite that lately I’ve been hitting the gym on weekdays at work.
10 mins. on the treadmill, 20 on the elliptical and so far 25 crunches in the morning (trying to build that up by 5 more a week).
That’s all I am doing or will ever do b/c… like I said… exercise blows. LOL
Oh and now I get the Johnny Walker suggestion! LOL

yeah, yeah, yeah…I’m here. Now you can shut your trap (and I say that in the most loving way that your BFF can get away with). Okay, so I was exercising religiously before school let out and my son decided to cling to me like a baby monkey afraid to fall out of the tree. I have a gym membership in case I feel like pushing the elliptical trainer for an hour while watching Wife Swap on one of their many TVs AND a membership to Jazzercise, which I absolutely adore! You know I love to dance and let me tell you, I ROCK those moves. However, I have been doing Jazzercise since the dawn of man…er…woman so when they have an “oldies” night? I remember every single routine from the days when they first introduced them.
I have done nothing all summer. Seriously. And I can see it! I’ve actually lost 17 lbs. since dicklet moved out (break-ups are the best-kept diet secret) and I picked up smoking, not eating, and puking every morning from panic attacks. All of that has subsided and the weight keeps coming off. Hmmm…no exercise, eating fast food 2-3 times a week and still losing? I think that shedding dicklet actually allowed me to shed the weight I’d been hiding behind.
Seriously, I can’t wait for school to start and my routine to get back to normal (relatively). I look forward to Jazzercise again and if all else fails, I was told that WII fit is probably the best overall workout anyone can get. Slalom in your living room anyone?

Girl, you’re a trip. Wii fit is pretty cool. My friends J & T have it and I want it – but not bad enough to spend that kinda cash on it! You know – new business and all. I should be spending my $$ on important stuff – like trips to UT to see a cute girl and dresses to do so!
Stop smoking! Start eating well again. Dicklet is gone now so you can get back to healthy. xoxo

My newest exercise program is brilliant in its simplicity, which makes it easy for me to do it consistently.
There is a park by where I live that has a paved loop around it. I go walk that loop – and when I say walk, I mean I go at a pretty fast clip. There are park benches all along the loop, and when I get to the last one before I start a new loop, I do push-ups on this bench. I just do ten at a time, but in the hour that I spend there, I’ll do 12-13 laps, meaning 120-130 push-ups. So I get a great cardio workout (an hour’s worth) and my upper body feels totally worked out, too.
Hmm, I might blog about this, too. I’m way motivated right now, and blogging might motivate me even MORE. Glad you’re liking your workout! I listened to your playlist, and I APPROVE.

Your barbell should be in the milkhouse. A mouse told me.
