Aw shucks, to you both.
Honestly, I’m way past the fears of “what is femme, and am i it?” – I know who and what I am, and if folks don’t recognize it as my personal brand o’ femme? Well, their loss. (okay, I’m not nearly that cavalier about it all the time…sometimes it hurts to not be acknowledged…but it doesn’t make me doubt my self-id anymore!)
Looking good in a dress, that I can do. However, you’re much more likely to see me in jeans and a tank for everyday living, particularly after I’ve escaped the work-clothes! Or, if the weather’s cooperating and I can escape the general public eye, much *less*… (though I can’t say I’ve bbq’d whilst scantily clad before. seems like not such a fab idea, really…)

@kimber Darlin’ no one gets to take your Femme Badge away! You get to decide if you’re femme or not. Some butches (and femmes, too!) think it’s sexy when a femme can do things that are unexpected. Which is why they think it’s hot that you and I have trucks! If you can use a freaking ax AND look hot in a dress? Yeah, I think yoiu’re gonna be fine in the “finding a butch” department. (PS I remembered not to say “girl”!)

I put together my gas BBQ myself – after my beyond-butch, trans-id’d partner got fed up and viciously snarky with the whole process. (seriously lacking patience) She went upstairs to grab stuff and I finished putting the damn thing together. And yes, I do cook with it. Alone, even. Life with a grill is good; propane and some long-handled tongs, a basting brush, and something yummy and marinated…not much beats that, I’d say.
(please don’t take away my femme badge for ‘fessing up to this particular joy. fire. is. good.)
My new place – as of October 1st – has a big front deck for the aforementioned BBQ, an ocean view, and a little wood-stove in the livingroom. Now I guess my next femmetastic job is to figure out how to wield an axe! (any suggestions? hell, anyone out there – preferably tough and strong and easy on the eyes, ideally tall and late-30s-ish – wanna give a grrl a tutorial?? there’s dinner and dessert as recompense!)

Seems to me that 3 butches need to go back for remedial training. I am not saying that I am a McGyver, I am really not that mechanical, but would never leave you with a grill in a box. At very least I would lay out the cash to have an expert assemble it. Just saying.

okay ultimate feminist. i’m glad i didn’t work on the damn grill while i was there. your brother-in-law can build furniture from scratch and all that. He somehow, though wonderful and I love him to pieces, trumped all your “butch” girlfriends. what the hell were you distracting them with at the time they were working. pressure cooker tactics. just saying.

I am telling you.. USE THE PANINI PRESS!! You can make SO MANY awesome little sandwiches and things.. for example awesome banana & chocolate sandwiches on pound cake.. or.. french bread sandwiches with tomato and basil leaves (with pesto spread) and mozz cheese as the filler. MMM. You cannot let good kitchen gadgets go to waste. About the big, butch grill.. please.. I sat outside for hours this summer watching Cole put one together. I handed him parts sometimes. lol. That’s how helpful I am.
