As I may have mentioned in a previous post, I am a Product Junkie. I love lotions, potions, serums, soaps, etc. However, what I really want is The Perfect Whatever so I can be settled on that one thing and not fool around with anything else. Unless something new and exciting happens along, but whatev. I am also sort of a conservationist (despite the Ford F-150) and try to use all natural things, or at the very least things that are less toxic to the planet.
I have found The Perfect Shower Gel in this:
I buy the unscented kind so that I can mix perfume of my own with it, but it comes in Lavender, Peppermint, Rose and Almond. Probably others as well, but those are the ones I can remember. It works beautifully – it’s moisturizing but not too, it’s gentle and it doesn’t leave shmutz around my tub. It’s also fairly inexpensive as you can get 2- 32 ounce bottles for just fewer than $23.
The bottle says it’s the only thing you’ll ever need and gives you excellent instructions on how to take what is sometimes affectionately known as a “ho bath.” I recommend taking a proper shower (as you know!) but Dr. B’s soap is pretty fab. I also use it as hand soap at the bathroom sink. (In the kitchen, I just use dish soap but I always lotion up afterwards!) I have washed my face with it, to no ill effect, but I have pretty oily skin & it made me slightly dry, so I wouldn’t recommend making a habit of that. In a pinch, though, it should be okay.
I read someone else say they brush their teeth with it. I have to say, I haven’t done that. I’m fond of the UltraBrite I’ve been using off and on since high school.
Then I read that someone washes her hair with Dr. Bronner’s. Shampoo is the one thing I spend a freaking fortune on because my hair is so weird, but I thought, “Why not try it?”
I’m glad I tried it so that you don’t have to do such things to your hair. My hair is thick and semi-curly but, oddly, fine rather than course. Dr. Bronner’s as shampoo made my hair course and rough. The writer said she mixed it with baking soda and never had to use another conditioner again, so I tried that. No luck. Don’t try this at home, darling. Unless you like the “my hair is hay” feeling.
I have, however, found The Perfect Shampoo. More accurately, The Perfect Cleansing Conditioner and that is:
It’s not cheap, loves, but … It. Is. Fabulous. I have hard water where I live and it made a wreck of my hair. I was ready to move because of my hair! (Yes, I am that vain.)
Don’t ever let anyone tell you that no good can come out of H1N1. I had H1N1 at Christmas time and *two* good things came of it. 1) I watched an Elvis movie marathon on some cable channel and 2) I watched an informercial for Wen.
I know, I know, an informercial. I’m a freak, I know, because I *love* infomercials! I’ve bought more things from infomercials than I can to tell you, some good, some not. (Bare Minerals = awesome, Proactiv = just so-so.) But this! This is AMAZING. So much so that after having my bottle of Wen for a week or so, I went right to *their* website directly and bought a GALLON of it. Yes, really. I have a gallon of it! Of course, I can’t put a gallon in my shower very easily, so I put it in smaller bottles. In case you were wondering.
So foxy femmes, what’s your perfect, can’t live without it beauty product? My sweet, sexy butches, do you have one? Perhaps not “beauty” product, but “grooming product for the studly?” Tell me what I might be missing!

I love Dr. Bronner’s! They used to have Tea Tree Oil & Eucalyptus, too. Tea Tree oil was FABULOUS for acne prone skin (like mine!), but plain works really good, too. I tried it after reading an article that said a lot of the chemicals in even facial cleanser can cause more problems than they solve. I had wicked bad acne at the time, so I tried Dr. B’s and was practically clear within a month or so.
I use the Curly Girl Method, so no shampoo for me. Just lots and lots of conditioner. I use Suave Coconut for “co-washing” and Suave Green Apple for conditioning. Cheap & works and that works for me!

I have thick curly hair, which I think automatically makes you a product whore. Products make all the difference with curly hair….
I just recently caught a snippet of the Wen infomercial. Looked interesting, may have to try it after reading your review.
I am also a poor student though so I have to watch my budget.
I love the sulfate free shampoos, they tend to be much less drying, but also very expensive. I heart pureology but can’t afford it. So I use the Loreal Everpure sulfate moisture shampoo. I smells amazing, is much less drying than most other shampoos, and is easy on the bank account.
I also heart aussie 3 minute miracle deeeep conditioner. I use it as my everyday conditioner though. Again its cheap, but one of the best moisturizers out there.
The crucial styling products come from pantene. The mousse for curly hair is hands down the least drying, just the right amount of hold, least amount of flaky mousse out there. If curly haired people out there haven’t tried, go get it now. I also like to use the Curls anti frizz creme when I don’t feel like using the mousse and drying my hair.
Those are the ones I stick to, other products such as body washes and face products I rotate on. I haven’t found any gotta haves in those areas.
I also love Dr. Bronner’s in lavendar. You can take it camping and wash everything with it and it is safe for the environment.

Oh! Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream for chapped lips (or heels or elbows or cuticles or anything really). I can not live without it. I most especially can not go to sleep without slathering my lips with it. Perfection in a tube.

I like unscented soap and no particular shampoo and conditioner.
I am however very picky when it comes to styling product. I’ve been know to spend excessive amounts of money to get the right product and was devastated when my favourite was discontinued.
I hate lavender and prefer my women natural, or hot and sweaty from the gym. And I LOVE to give foot rubs with whatever cream or oil is handy.

I’m serious about my products, especially hair products. Aveda styling clay for men … I swear by it for my hair, at least. I have short, thick hair, and I like a matte finish on it. This stuff is fantastic and worth every penny I spend on it.
