Cheree gave me the Beautiful Blogger award. She thinks that everyone needs a fairy godmother! Thanks, darlin’. I appreciate this so much.

Here are the Beautiful Blogger rules:

1. Thank the person who gave you this award. Thank you, Cheree!
2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Pass the award along to 15 bloggers who you have recently discovered and who you think are fantastic!
4. Contact the bloggers you’ve picked and let them know about the award.

Seven things y’all don’t already know? That’s harder than you might think, given that I pretty much tell the world everything. Let’s see …

My Sprint broadband internet dealie is driving me to drink right now. It loses the connection frequently. As in every time my netbook shifts even slightly and I can’t get a new one until next week because, though I’ve been a Sprint customer for six years, they can’t give me a break for a few damned days. Of course, I haven’t persisted with getting the supervisor’s supervisor because honestly, I have better things to do than be on hold.

I subscribe to many magazines: O (the Oprah Magazine), More, Guideposts (though that’s lapsing), Lucky, Marie Clare, Elle Décor, Do It Yourself (though I don’t. I want to. Maybe I’ll get inspired?), Smart Shopping, Clean Eating (again with the want to/inspiration), In Style and it seems like I’m missing something. Oh, right. Advancing Philanthropy, which really isn’t a subscription so much as something I get because I belong to a professional association.

I prefer to watch TV on DVD and lately have watched every available season of Bones and Criminal Minds. I am now working on NCIS. I have 2 seasons of Smallville and have the rest of them on my Netflix queue, along with the rest of NCIS and a season of Numb3rs, Saving Grace and The Closer. Apparently, I like crime dramas.

I want to learn to sew so that I can make duvets that are one size and shams that are another. I want to have a king size comforter so that it drapes on the floor but I don’t have king size pillows, so I want regular shams. Also, maybe I’ll make pillows and other things for my apartment, but I will not make clothes. That requires far more patience than I have.

I’ve lived in my apartment since May and I still don’t have a dining room table and chairs. Or a coffee table. Or curtains. I have blinds and I can’t stand blinds. Though I am normally very decisive, I can’t decide what I want, thus I am buying nothing.

I recently decided that being a mother is not in my future. With no offense intended to anyone whose life differs from what I’m about to say or who believes differently, I do not want to be a single mother, nor do I want to be a working mother. Well, working besides working at being a mother, I mean. I want to be married and a stay at home mom, if I’m going to be a mother. As I am single, being sahm is out of the question. As I have no immediate marriage prospects, being a married mom is also out of the question. As I believe that a couple should take time to establish a strong marriage before having children, that would mean I am officially too old. I’m 43 so by the time I get married & have a solid marriage, I’ll be 50, at least. That’s too old (for me) to have a child, even to adopt a munchkin. So, no children for me.

I’m thinking about going to seminary. I started out an Episcopalian, then later became Catholic. I’ve been going to a Unity church (which is not the same thing as Unitarian Universalist or MCC, btw) for about 10 years now. I’m thinking about returning to my Episcopal roots. I went to Mass with the Current Date, who is Catholic, and then with my godparents a week later. I miss it. I miss the ritual and the prayers and the beauty of the service. Episcopalians have a similar liturgy to the Catholics but allow women to be priests and also have a gay and a lesbian bishop, in various parts of the country. I’m still considering it, but it’s a strong possibility, though whether it’s Unity or Episcopal, I don’t know yet.

Now, I’m supposed to nominate 15 new bloggers but of late I have not been reading new blogs. I’ve been barely keeping up with the ones I already read. These blogs aren’t that new to me, but they are also not the ones I generally talk about, so semi-sorta-new.
<NL>

Beelisty

Sartorial Butch

Capitolfemme

See Logan Run

Alphafemme

Fit for a Femme

At the Edge of the Ocean

Lescook (who you might recognize from the SwoonList, but this blog is new)
There aren’t 15 of them but they are all wonderful writers with interesting things to say, so you should check them out!
